About The Artist
As a self taught artist I enjoy drawing, painting, and working with color. I study art history independently and I love reading biographies of the old masters such as Leonardo De Vinci, and Jesus Helguera. I am a big fan of Michael Angelo Bounnaroti of Florence. I also enjoy still lives, impressionism, photorealism, and sculpture.
I am currently serving 265 years to life as the result of the California “Three Strikes” law. I am from Carpinteria, a small town outside of Santa Barbara. Carpinteria is great, we had the ocean right on our front door step and a beautiful mountain range near by. As a child during summer vacation my friends and I would spend the days and nights on the beach, body surfing and later on surfing old long boards that were so heavy we had to leave them at the beach. There they stayed all summer long, anyone could use them. As we got older some stayed with the surfing, while others moved on to excel in sports, music, low riding in old Chevys, being cool for the girls, getting into a little trouble at the local beach parties, drinking beer then smoking pot-one thing leads to another. At the time, we were young, we all liked to think we knew what we were doing, “I’ll just try this once...” I only wish I had listened to my family who were on the right path, living with God in their hearts. I veered down the wrong path and blazed my own trail down in to this point of no return, and now I’m all boxed in. In my art you’ll see in a lot of my collages, bits and pieces of my life story. I’ve since accepted Jesus Christ into my life and heart and although I still struggle with life’s ups and downs, but I start everyday in prayer and I give thanks for another day. If I could give any young person advice it would be simple: SAY NO TO DRUGS! Listen to your parents-they’ll never steer you wrong.
I hope you will enjoy my work, and any questions or thoughts can be sent directly to me.
